allied/allying (adjective) – connected in a friendly and/or cooperating relationship

alliance (noun) – a friendly and/or cooperating relationship

Examples:

The US is looking for allies to join the battle against the terrorist force.

France allied with the UK to oust dictator Gaddafi from Lybia.

Thanks to the allied forces who fought Hitler and Japan, World War II ended.

The two parties formed an alliance to better deal with opposition.

The airlines are in an alliance to cut and share expenses.

The clerk forged a close alliance with the manager to protect his position.
