Word to the Wise: devolve

Last time we discussed evolve and involve. Now about devolve.

devolve (verb) – to give to someone else (of a task or responsibility, or inheritance)

devolvement (noun) – the giving of a task to someone else

devolve

Here are some examples of how you can use devolve:

The manager devolved the problem with the servers to a consultancy.

After she died, her house and the money she left in her bank account devolved upon her children.

The business devolved upon a new owner.

When the school brought in an additional manager, there was some devolvement of authority away from the principal.
