pry – (verb) looking closely, often sneakily or uninvited (like looking into someone else’s business)

Examples:

Our office secretary is always prying into our private appointments.

Most people don’t like it when their friends pry into their telephones.

The man next to me on the train pried into my book, which I found unpleasant.

The dentist pried into the patient’s open mouth.
